The history of the estate

2011
The Creation

Didier Théophile and Margeaux Lampley Théophile, founding owners, have fulfilled one of their wildest dreams: to build their own wine estate in the Luberon, supported by the consulting oenologist Michel Tardieu. This former farmhouse, from the Vaud period, knew how to seduce the couple at first glance. The old vines on the farm have all been uprooted. This was followed by a long period of rest of the soil, allowing the renewal of biodiversity. It was also at this time that organic certification was requested.

2014
3 years later

The owners decided to surround themselves with professionals from the region, in particular Aurélien Le Tellier (winemaker).

After thorough soil analyses, making it possible to choose the location of each grape variety, eight and a half hectares of vinesS
The wines are rooted in their land and respect each vintage.

That same year, the construction of the gravity cellar began.

Today
A 100% organic domain

The estate is now composed of twelve hectares of vines, certified organic. Located 300 meters above the sea, the six red grape varieties and four white grape varieties are carefully cultivated.
Harvesting is exclusively manual, starting at 4 am with a headlamp. The production is composed of ten cuvees, corresponding to the AOP Luberon: four in red, three in white and three in rosé.

Anchored in its history and looking to the future, Domaine de Maslauris is entering a new phase in its development. Margeaux and Chiara Théophile, alongside the winemaker Aurélien Le Tellier, are continuing the adventure in line with the commitment made by Didier Théophile, with the desire to ensure its sustainability and to open new horizons.

THE TEAM

Didier Théophile
Founding owner

Didier played a decisive role in the creation and identity of Domaine de Maslauris.
Out of love for the land and the vineyards and sensitive to respect for the land, this happy owner took the bull by the horns to build a place in his image: authentic and welcoming.

Driven by a true passion for wine, he carried a demanding vision that still shapes the estate today, rooted in its land and faithful to his beliefs.

MARGEAUX LAMPLEY THEOPHILE
Founding owner

An American woman in Luberon, singer and actress, Margeaux supported Didier in his dream of making wine and creating a legacy for their family. Now a co-manager, she ensures the stability and sustainability of the estate.

But some remember the jazz evenings under the pines of Maslauris, where Margeaux and his jazz orchestra made the estate vibrate, helping to create a place of sharing and conviviality.

Aurélien le Tellier
Winegrower

Born in Provence and deeply attached to his roots, this winemaker shares the owners' love of the land. Rooted in the Luberon, his biggest dream is to see his vines and his family grow in his native land.

Co-manager of the estate, Aurélien continues the work undertaken at Maslauris and ensures that the spirit and heritage carried by Didier live.

CHIARA THÉOPHILE
New Generation

Daughter of Didier and Margeaux, Chiara is now taking her place in the history of the estate.

Currently a doctoral student in history, she takes a close look at the memory, transmission and evolution of territories — values that naturally resonate with the history and future of Maslauris.

Syrah

Typical of the great wines of the Rhône Valley, it is said to have originated in France. The wines produced are recognizable by their dark and intense color as well as by their spicy aromas of black fruits and violets.
The cuvees produced with this grape variety are, for the most part, wines with good aging potential.

It is considered to be the original strain of Syrah. Born in the northern Rhône Valley, it makes it possible to produce spicy red wines with the crunchy aromas of kirschy black cherries. This grape variety is late, resistant to drought and many diseases.
